WELCOME TO THE ISLANDS!
“Whenever you have a few people gathering in the Caribbean,
you have the makings of a party…”
Grab Something, Wave & Join the FUN!!
Step into the warmth and hospitality of West Indies culture as we transport you to many ports of call! Dance with us as we transport you, your taste buds, your sense of adventure and especially your feet – to create lasting memories.
That’s right, the sandals are coming off. Grab something and wave to the rhythm of the Saskatoon Caribbean Steel Band and the Pacesetters Orchestra from Regina. Learn about the history of steel pan which originated in Trinidad & Tobago and was the only instrument developed in the 20th century.
From the sunny land of Jamaica, you’ll be in awe of our amazing Fire eater, Prince Niah. Barbados comes alive in Saskatoon along with stilt walkers, Troy & Deono (also known traditionally as Moko Jumbies). We are introducing King Fish this year, an incredible Limbo dancer, originally from Jamaica, but residing in Vancouver, B.C. How low can you go?
We’re firing up the grill to bring you Jerk Chicken, and spicing things up at the Pepper Pot Kitchen to bring you more favorites, Curried Chicken, Beef or Chicken Roti, Beef and Vegetarian Patties.
The rumors are true, we have the best Rum Punch in the City! Also enjoy a `Jamaica-Me-Crazy`, Red Stripe, Carib or Ginger Beer at the Coconut Hut.
We also have a variety of delicious Island Drinks for the kids! The kids will be delighted with a variety of activities including face painting and crafts in the Children’s Area. Have your camera ready because you never know if you’ll get to see a live mermaid or a real live pirate!
Visit our vendors who will surely have something authentic and interesting to take home or give to someone special.
The party begins and ends at the Caribbean pavilion, so witness the Finale and join the Conga Line every evening and “Jump Up” at Carnival! Grab something and wave as you and experience our Caribbean hospitality at its finest.
