The 2nd Annual RBC Folkfest Gala was yet another successful event! On Friday, July 19th pavilion members, sponsors, family and friends joined at TCU Place to celebrate this year’s upcoming Saskatoon Folkfest. The night kicked off with an international tapas spread of delicious dishes and a silent auction which included over 25 items. CBC Saskatoon’s very own Leisha Grebinski commenced the official program of the evening by introducing this year’s Folkfest President, Neil Irvine as well as Mayor Don Atchison. The night continued with the honorarium of the 2013 Folkfest Ambassadors as they crossed the stage to receive their medallion while waving their flags to the ever so popular song Waving Flag performed by the Caribbean Steal Band. The entertainment line-up went on to feature the Scottish Highland Dance Association, Punjabi Bhangra Dancers and an outstanding display from the Chinese Martial Arts group, among an array of other talents. The night would not be complete without the 2013 Youth Ambassadors as they took the stage to perform an amazing dance influenced by each of the participating countries.
The RBC Folkfest Gala was a night to remember thanks to our title sponsor, RBC, the decorating committee, The Language Centre volunteers, and the silent auction business donors.
Sincere gratitude from everyone at Saskatoon Folkfest!
